Terroir<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A peculiarity of minerals and dark soil found in Montalcino because of the proximity of the Amiata volcano which has been extinct for millions of years.<\/h3>\n

The 10 ha of vines, in the locality of Castelnuovo dell\u2019Abate, are on the slope on the top of which stands the Castello della Velona. The 9 ha of Sangiovese and 1 ha of Cabernet Sauvignon are trained on the spurred cordon system with a consistency of about 4500 vines per hectare.
